Are you looking for a way to bring out your natural beauty? If so, lip fillers might just be the perfect solution for you. Lip fillers have rapidly become one of the hottest trends in beauty, with more and more people opting in to enhance their lips with semi-permanent filler injections. From celebrities like Kylie Jenner to everyday people, everyone’s talking about lip fillers—but why are they taking the beauty industry by storm?

In this blog post, we’ll explore what makes lip fillers such a great trend right now and how they can enhance anyone’s look. So lace up your trainers and let’s get into it!

Overview Of The Lip Filler Craze

Beautiful, plump lips have always been considered a sign of youth and sensuality. However, not everyone is blessed with a pair of naturally full lips. That’s where lip fillers come in. Hollywood started the trend of full lips, and now lip fillers are the current obsession. With lip fillers, you can have your ideal pout in a matter of minutes without any surgery.

Lip fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body, making it a safe and popular choice among people. The lip filler craze is not just limited to celebrities; everyone wants a perfect pout. It’s easy to see why – having fuller lips not only makes you look and feel more youthful, but it can also boost your confidence.

Benefits Of Lip Fillers

Lip fillers are a popular cosmetic procedure that can do wonders for a person’s appearance and confidence. With the help of a skilled professional, lip fillers can enhance the shape, size, and overall fullness of the lips. While there are various types of lip fillers on the market, many people discover the lip flip technique to be the most satisfying as it doesn’t require a lot of product. This technique uses a small amount of filler to turn the upper lip slightly upwards, creating a more defined and pronounced pout.

Not only can lip fillers give you the appearance you desire, but they can also improve your self-esteem and help you put your best face forward. With the help of a trusted professional, you can achieve fuller, more beautiful lips that make you feel confident and beautiful.

Different Types Of Lip Fillers

Fuller, plumper lips are a popular trend in the beauty industry, with many people turning to lip fillers to achieve their desired look. With so many different types of lip fillers available on the market, it can be overwhelming to decide which one is right for you. Juvederm, Restylane, and Volbella are some of the most popular fillers available, each with its own set of pros and cons.

Juvederm is known for its long-lasting results, while Restylane is often used for its ability to smooth out lip lines. Volbella, on the other hand, is a great option for those looking for a more natural look. Whatever your preference, it’s important to do your research and consult with a qualified professional to determine which lip filler will best suit your needs.

Cost Of Getting Lip Filler

In the world of beauty, many people are turning to lip fillers to achieve fuller, plumper lips. However, the cost of getting this procedure done can be a concern for some. The average price for different lip fillers can vary depending on factors such as the type of filler used and the clinic’s location.

For example, hyaluronic acid fillers can range from around £200 to £500, while collagen fillers may cost up to £800. It’s important to do your research and find a reputable clinic with experienced practitioners to ensure a safe and successful outcome. Ultimately, the investment in lip fillers can be worth it for those looking to enhance their natural beauty.

Tips For Finding A Qualified Practitioner

When it comes to lip fillers, finding a qualified practitioner is crucial in ensuring you get a safe and effective service. So, where do you start? Firstly, do your research and look for a practitioner who is trained and certified in administering lip fillers. You can also ask for referrals from family and friends who have undergone the procedure.

When you book your consultation, make sure to ask about their experience, the type of fillers they use, and the aftercare instructions. A qualified practitioner will always be happy to answer your questions and provide any necessary information to put your mind at ease.

Lip fillers have quickly become one of the hottest trends in beauty, and it’s not hard to understand why. From heightened confidence to their amazing aesthetic results, having lip filler injections can do wonders for someone’s appearance. With all the different types of lip fillers available these days, finding the right one for you is easier than ever before.

Although there are potential risks associated with getting lip fillers, careful research and careful management by a qualified practitioner can ensure a safe experience. Prices will vary depending on your chosen practitioner and product, so it is important to research both beforehand. Ultimately, if done correctly and safely, lip fillers can be an incredibly rewarding experience for anyone interested in improving their look through cosmetic procedures.

Meet the content creators:

Soft Girl Spring

According to Reynolds, the “Soft Girl Spring” trend is so new that it’s open to being defined. The idea is to create a look using pastel colors, sheer finishes, and minimal art embellishments like chrome or sparkle. The trend, which involves simple nail art that can easily be achieved at home, is perfect for the spring because it touches on the classic and minimal nail trends we’ve seen in recent years.

In need of weekend plans? Schedule an at-home spa day. During this self-care time, grab your prettiest pastel polishes and prepare to be a trendsetter by trying the “Soft Girl Spring” nail look. If you’re feeling adventurous, add a layer of glitter polish for extra sparkle!

Lip Gloss Nails

Purple nail polish

“Lip Gloss Nails” are glossy sheer nails that sometimes feature a subtle shimmer. Yaritza explained that the trend reflects the juicy lip glosses we all loved in the 2000s.

While fall and winter nail trends lean towards darker hues, spring ushers in a hard transition to lighter shades. That’s why VanAusdal and Dee agree that “Lip Gloss Nails” are the perfect trend for spring. They offer a fresh start after the hectic holiday season full of glitz and glam.

Reynolds noted that achieving the look requires no special techniques or skills, making it the perfect mani to try at home. To achieve the trend, apply a pale pink or nude polish as your base color. Add a second coat after the first one has dried. Use a detailer brush to ensure your application appears clean and neat. Lastly, apply a top coat with a high-shine finish to get the perfect glossy mani.

Spring floral designs

Colorful nail polish

With spring being the blooming season, there’s no question that florals are prevalent during this time of year. Floral nail designs are a great way to incorporate the beauty of flowers into your everyday look and can range from subtle and simple to bold and intricate. Whether you prefer dainty daisies or vibrant roses, there’s a floral nail design for everyone.

‘70s swirls

Green 70s swirls nail polish
Purple 70s swirls nail polish

Want a funky new nail design? Try the ‘70s swirl nail designs that are gaining popularity on social media. Because of the nostalgia involved, the groovy trend is experiencing a huge comeback, along with the rise of thrift shopping for stylish and sustainable fashions.

Dee revealed that she believes the popularity of the ‘70s swirls design is also influenced by the virtually limitless color combinations available for experimentation.

Futuristic chrome

Chrome nail polish

“Chrome nails are trending because of the famous people rocking the looks are trending,” Dee said. She credited Zola Ganzorigt, better known by her Instagram handle @NailsByZola, for the resurgence of the chrome nail trend because of her high-profile clientele who keep the trend at the top of our minds.

Chrome nails saw its height last year, with many celebrities, including Dua Lipa, Zendaya, Rihanna, Kate Hudson, and Halle Bailey, putting their twists on the trend. The trend continues to surge this spring with brighter colors and unique designs.

Recreating high-shine chrome nails at home can be a bit messy to the loose chrome powder used to create the mirror-like look. To achieve the same eye-catching ability without the mess, try press-on nails. Tella Nails’ Candy chrome press-on is a fun way to add color to the trend. If you’re looking for a more subtle inclusion of chrome, try Lottie London’s new Lottie X Kimkim Stay Press’d, which features a groovy chrome design.

A floral finish

As you can see, there are plenty of fun nail trends to try at your next nail appointment. Use the new season to step outside your comfort zone and unlock your creativity by testing out one of these eye-catching designs for yourself.

Fix your dry and chapped lips with lip basting!

It’s the latest beauty trend, also called “lip slugging” because it’s similar to face slugging (which we talked about in a previous post).

But what is lip basting and should you be doing it to get soft, beautiful lips?

What is Lip Basting?

Some call it the “ultimate hydration for your lips,” while others claim it’s the “ultimate hack for dry lips.”

With the weather getting colder, dryer, and harsher in many areas of the country, a lot of us are looking for help with dry, chapped lips. Cold air saps moisture from the lips, causing dryness, flakiness, cracks, and sometimes, bleeding. The natural tendency to lick the lips can also exacerbate dryness and flaking.

The skin on the lips is very thin and delicate. It dries out much faster than the skin on the rest of the face and requires extra TLC to say soft and smooth in the winter.

Even if you’re regularly applying lip balm, though, you may still struggle with chapped lips at this time of year. So it’s no surprise that lip-basting became popular almost overnight.

At its simplest, lip basting is a process where you apply a thick layer of moisturizer (types vary) to the lips and then let it sit for an extended amount of time before wiping it off, often about 10 minutes.

The idea is that allowing the hydrating agent to sit on the lips for a longer period helps improve hydration and repair. But if we go back to how lip basting started, we can see that the original process involved more than this.

Calming Moisture Basting

How Lip Basting Got Started

Lip basting got its start with Dr. Shereene Idriss, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City. She shared a process she uses on her own lips on Instagram, and lip basting was born.

Idriss recommended two steps for the process:

  1. Exfoliate: Start with a chemical exfoliant like glycolic acid. Spread a thin layer across the lips.
  2. Moisturize: After it dries, apply a thick layer of moisturizer. Continue with your makeup or morning routine.

When Idriss was done getting ready for her day, she wiped off the moisturizer, and voila, enjoyed softer, smoother lips.

You may have done something similar in the past with a lip scrub followed by a lip ointment or a lip mask. What’s interesting is that, unlike face slugging, lip basting involves an exfoliating step.

It makes sense because chapped lips naturally have dead skin on the surface. We need to get rid of that dead skin before we can expect that our lips will look better. Simply putting moisturizer on top of dry, flaky patches will help some, but won’t produce the results we want.

As to how Idriss came up with this idea, she told PopSugar that she was in Jackson, Wyoming where the air was dry, and her lips felt like “shriveled up prunes…” Vaseline alone wasn’t helping, so she decided that she should exfoliate her lips like she exfoliates her face.

4 Steps to the Perfect Lip Basting Routine

If you’re curious about how lip basting may benefit your lips this winter, try the following steps for the best results.

1. Start with Clean Lips

Use a soft cloth or makeup-removing cloth to remove all lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, and other products from the lips. You’ll want to start with clean lips.

2. Use a Scrub if You Like

If your lips are flaky and dry, it may help to begin with a gentle lip scrub. There are many available on the market or you can make your own with a little sugar and olive or jojoba oil. Apply some to your lips and gently scrub with a washcloth or soft toothbrush to help loosen up some of that dead skin. Rinse.

Keep in mind that a physical scrub isn’t the right solution for everyone. If you have super sensitive skin or if your lips are already bleeding, wait until they’re in better repair.

3. Chemically Exfoliate

Next, use a chemical exfoliating agent to further slough off the dead skin on the surface of your lips. Idriss uses a toner that contains glycolic acid. You could also use one that contains lactic acid. A serum with one of these acids will also work.

Let the exfoliant sit on your lips. If you’re using a toner, let it sit until it dries. If you’re using a serum, let it sit until it sinks into the lips. Then go on to the next step.

4. Baste the Lips!

Finally, spread a generous layer of your chosen moisturizer on your lips. Apply enough that your lips look buttery and wet, then let it sit. Don’t lick your lips!

We recommend our Restorative Skin Balm. This 100 percent natural, non-petroleum healing balm softens severely dry and chapped skin. It’s won several awards, including the “Best All-Around Healing Balm” from Healing Lifestyles & Spas. In addition to moisturizing your skin, it also protects it with powerful antioxidants and vitamin E.

Whatever you decide to use, stay away from petroleum-based products. They can coat the skin and prevent water loss, but they don’t add any moisture back into your skin, so your lips will feel dry again a short time later.

Our balm contains natural moisturizers like calendula and bee’s wax along with natural oils and other moisturizers that will benefit the tender skin on your lips.

Once you’ve slathered the moisturizer on, go about your morning (or evening). The key is to allow the moisturizer to sit on your lips for at least 10 minutes.

When you’re ready, gently dab or wipe off any remaining moisturizer and apply your regular lip balm (you can use our Restorative Skin Balm as a lip balm too!). Then go about your day with newly restored, soft and supple lips.

Feel free to repeat the lip-basting process once a day or until your lips start looking and feeling better.

Restorative Lip Basting

What Are the Benefits of Lip Basting?

When you follow the steps outlined above, you will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Intensely hydrated lips
  • Diminished dryness, chapping, and flaking
  • More resilient lips that resist future chapping
  • Smoother lipstick and lip gloss application

Have you tried lip-basting?

Banish Cracked Lip Corners for Kissable Lips!

Winter weather often causes cracked lip corners.

They’re not only sore but unattractive.

To soothe the pain and recover your kissable lips, try the tips below!

What Are Cracked Lip Corners?

Cracked lips corners can develop because of a few different factors:

Chapped Lips Can Cause Cracked Lip Corners

Cold, dry air in the winter saps the lips of moisture, creating dryness, flaking, and cracking. If you lick your lips you can make it worse, as when your saliva evaporates, leaving your lips even dryer.

The skin on your lips is thinner and more sensitive than the skin on the rest of your body. It doesn’t contain oil glands either, which means your lips have no natural way to replenish their moisture.

No wonder they can get dry and chapped so easily.

The lips are also exposed to the cold air and ultraviolet rays from the sun more than most of the rest of your skin, which increases the risk of developing damaged, dry skin.

Without treatment, the dryness on your lips can spread to the corners of your mouth, and the lack of moisture can lead to cracking and even bleeding.

Allergies Can Cause Cracked Lip Corners

If you have allergies, particularly if you’re allergic to any foods you eat or beverages you drink, you could make your cracked lip corners worse.

Your skin may react to certain allergens in food, becoming inflamed and increasing dryness, cracking, and flaking.

Angular Cheilitis Can Cause Cracked Lip Corners

This is a fungal infection that can develop in the corners of your mouth. It’s caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans that often lives in the mouth and other moist areas of the body.

Usually, it doesn’t cause any harm, but sometimes it can grow out of control and lead to an infection that shows up on your mouth corners. Things that may increase your risk of this type of infection include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Dehydration
  • Certain medications (like the acne drug isotretinoin or chemotherapy drugs)
  • Autoimmune conditions like Crohn’s disease and lupus
  • Harsh, dry winter weather
  • Oral appliances like retainers

Saliva Can Cause Cracked Lip Corners

As mentioned above, when you lick your lips, the saliva evaporates and causes the skin to dry out. In addition, your saliva contains microorganisms, so if your skin is already dry, you could be more at risk of an infection at the corners of your mouth.

7 Ways to Clear Up Cracked Lip Corners

Once your lips are cracked, dry, red, and inflamed, regular chapstick isn’t going to do much to help. It can help moisten your lips, but most brands do not contain the ingredients needed to heal inflamed, cracked skin at the corners.

1. Ask your dermatologist.

The first thing you want to do is make sure that you don’t have angular cheilitis. If you do have it, you may need a medicated cream to help clear up the infection before the dryness and inflammation will go away.

Common symptoms of angular cheilitis include:

  • Redness and swelling in the corners of the mouth
  • Cracking or crusting
  • Pain or soreness
  • Burning
  • A whitening or thickening of the skin around the corners of the mouth

An at-home tip for avoiding infections in the corner of your mouth is to eat more yogurt and other probiotic foods. They can help fight the infection and keep your immune system strong.

Restorative Skin Balm Lips2. Use our Restorative Skin Balm.

If your cracked lip corners are caused by dryness and irritation, you need a balm to help heal the wounded skin. Our Restorative Skin Balm is perfect for the job.

It contains carnauba and bee’s wax to safeguard skin while healing is taking place. Then vitamin E and sea buckthorn oil, aid in wound healing, while providing antioxidant protection.

Natural oils like safflower and jojoba penetrate the skin to deeply moisturize, while shea butter provides plumping fatty acids. Other ingredients like arnica calm inflammation so that your skin feels more comfortable.

Plus it’s a 100% natural, clinically proven, and a steroid- and petrolatum-free option to help heal the skin.

Apply as many times throughout the day as you like (keep it with you!), but be sure to apply before going to bed at night.

3. Drink more water.

Have you ever noticed that when you’re even mildly dehydrated the first place it shows up is on your lips? Water is the best way to replace lost moisture and it really works. Shoot for at least eight glasses a day. Realize that your thirst indicator isn’t usually as accurate in the cold weather, and you may not feel thirsty even when you need more water.

4. Invest in a humidifier.

These put water back into the air, which can give your lips a break. Instead of having to fight all the time to hold onto the little water they have, they can relax and stay hydrated when the air isn’t trying to rob them all the time.

The best place for a humidifier if you can purchase only one is in your bedroom. It will help hydrate your lips overnight.

5. Check your vitamin B and zinc levels.

In some cases, cracked, peeling lips can be a sign of a vitamin B deficiency. This is more common in people over the age of 50 when the body has more difficulty absorbing some types of B vitamins.

Check with your doctor and consider adding some vitamin B supplements to your daily regimen.

A zinc deficiency may also lead to cracking in the corner of your mouth, but this is less common. It may help to get more daily zinc into your diet (shellfish, beef, chicken) or you may want to take zinc supplements now and then to restore your levels. Always check with your doctor first.

6. Stop licking your lips.

As mentioned above, when you lick your lips, you not only make them dryer, but you also risk carrying bacteria into the corners of your mouth that could result in an infection.

Whenever you notice yourself licking your lips, apply lip balm (or our Restorative Skin Balm). Gradually, you’ll gain the habit of applying balm to your lips when they feel dry instead of licking them.

7. Check for any underlying conditions.

Sometimes people with diabetes or a weakened immune system are more likely to suffer from a dry, cracked mouth. If you get these cracks in the corners of your mouth fairly frequently, or if the treatments listed here don’t help, ask your doctor about any other conditions you may have that could be contributing to it.

Do you struggle with cracked lip corners in the winter?

When you don’t feel that you’ve been blessed with the look you prefer naturally, plus cosmetic products provide only short-term results, it often leads to feelings of needing to look to experts to realize a more long-term solution.

It’s cool to enhance what you have to explore and grow as long as underneath it all you’re comfortable in your own skin with a healthy self-esteem. The bottom line is that you have a strong confidence level to face what can be a brutal world.

Whatever makes you feel good is fantastic as long as you know you’re incredible regardless. With that being said, fillers and botox Maple Ridge BC will help to enhance what you have naturally based on the person injecting and the products used. The procedures are becoming more recognized and requested, particularly with celebrity and media influence.

Still, the process is not your average over the lunch hour quick fix. It’s invasive, painful, and takes proper preparation and aftercare for ideal results.

It’s vital to thoroughly research the clinic you intend to use, their products, and the procedure itself. Once you self-educate, you can make a more informed decision and ensure optimum safety. Let’s look at a few tips when considering a botox and lip filler specialist in Maple Ridge, BC.

Are You Interested In Botox And Lip Fillers In Maple Ridge BC

Anyone considering botox and lip fillers with any Maple Ridge Botox Studio needs to ensure the facility is well-established with a solid following. Becoming familiar with the injector and the products offered allows for a more informed decision, plus can assure you of the procedure’s overall safety.

While the practice is becoming much more commonplace, these procedures differ from place to place and between the various injectors’ techniques, plus the products range in quality.

A significant factor depends on the instructions given and how the individual follows those pre and post-care guidelines to achieve the desired results. Go here for guidance on aftercare for fillers. Tips to ensure you find the right specialist to meet your specific needs.

Before signing on as a client, the most vital part of the process is researching the person who does the injections. The nurse and physician should be on public record regarding their credentialing and licensure to give you validation they are capable and legitimate with no restrictions, nor are there any suspensions following them.

You can also check for their experience in practice and certifications. Ultimately, the priority is to ensure a safe process and one that will be done correctly.

Don’t be gregarious upfront, especially if you’re new to these procedures. It’s important to gradually build into the appearance you believe is right for you. Also, don’t request an appearance that someone else has as your own.

Your features are unique. Putting in lip injections to create a pout that someone else has on their face will look out of place with the size of your face and setup of your features.

Remember that. You could be putting an extra-large puff on a small surface. Allow the doctor to make the recommendations. Ultimately, they will do what you request but really consider your choices. The idea is to look natural with a bit of enhancement.

Lip Augmentation Procedure

Pay Attention To Pre-Care

Each treatment will consist of pre-care instructions meant to help relieve the potential for bruising. It’s recommended to avoid most blood-thinning substances like fish oil, NSAIDs, aspirin, multivitamins, Aleve or ibuprofen, vitamin E – but don’t break a doctor’s orders.

Further instructions include avoiding alcohol and caffeinated substances for a 24-hour period before/after sessions to decrease bruising and reduce chances for swelling. Swelling and bruising are often seen adverse effects of these procedures, which should be anticipated to a certain level.

Potential For Risks

The indication is that the lip filler process only takes generally 45 minutes and, again, is becoming quite a standard process today but that is in no way speaking to the fact that these are free of risk.

As mentioned, there is a likely chance for some degree of swelling and bruising. Plus, there is the potential some individuals could experience an allergic reaction, possible cold sores (if you tend to get these), infection, and the possibility for “vascular occlusion.”

That is most common when working in areas around the mouth and means the filler blocks a vessel to the blood supply. It’s essential to speak with the injector to discuss their protocol if this were to arise.

Pay For The Quality Of The Product And Injector

No one wants to pay a meager price for botox or filler services. These are temporary, lasting up to roughly 12 months based on the type of product plus your metabolism and lifestyle. The low cost could mean they disappear at a faster rate.

But a lower quality won’t last as long, nor will a knowledgeable expert perform the services typically when you see a lower than average price point.

With a higher price, the injectors are those that stay current with continuing education to learn the latest methods and optimum safety guidelines. You’ll want to know there are protocols implemented if there are any adverse reactions with the process as you go through the various sessions.

Final Thought

Botox and lip injections are becoming commonplace in today’s society. These don’t mean to change someone’s appearance because they’re not a permanent change, more a temporary enhancement to make someone feel good for a while, almost like a highlight to features that you already feel fantastic about.

Self-esteem and self-confidence begin when you have a strong sense of acceptance in your own skin. Then you can move forward to enhancing that beauty in various ways, including highlighting the lips with a pout or some other form of botox.

Botox and lip filler specialists in Maple Ridge BC can help clients achieve those results. Still, it’s essential to research the various professionals to ensure legitimacy, credentials, and establishment in the industry to make a well-informed decision.

Once you find the ideal option, it’s up to you to follow the pre/post-care instructions to achieve optimum results.

5 Ways To Get Rid Of Lip Wrinkles

Lip wrinkles are often referred to as lipstick lines, vertical lines or smoker’s lines. They are a part of the natural ageing process. These fine lines often run vertically on the top of the lips and can also appear all around the mouth area.

Some factors that may contribute to lip wrinkles include sun damage, repetitive muscle movement, smoking and genetics. Lip wrinkles age the face, but fortunately, we have five ways to get rid of lip wrinkles. Keep reading to find out more!

Why Do I Have Lines On My Lips?

Lip lines are caused by a number of reasons, including ageing and consuming foods and beverages that can promote lip wrinkles. Everyday behaviours can also fasten the process of lip wrinkle formation. These include:

  • Drinking from a straw
  • Prolonged sun exposure
  • Smoking
  • Whistling

As the lips are constantly scrunched or puckered it promotes the development of lip lines.

How Can I Get Rid Of Lip Wrinkles?

Luckily, we have five ways that can help get rid of lip lines.

1. Exfoliate The Lips

Exfoliation is key to getting rid of lip wrinkles.

Using a lip scrub or balm can get rid of chapped lips, reduce dry lips and improve barrier function. It’s ideal to use a lip scrub at least twice a week to ensure thorough exfoliation. When exfoliating, make sure to focus on the lines and avoid putting too much pressure on the delicate lip skin.

Some simple home recipes for a lip scrub:

  • Basic scrub – 1 tsp honey, 2 tsp sugar
  • Sugar scrub – 2 tbsp fine sugar, 1 tbsp olive oil, ½ tsp honey, 1-2 drops of your favourite essential oil
  • Honey scrub – 2 tsp sugar, 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp almond oil
  • Oat scrub – 1/2 cup ground oats, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tbsp honey, 1/4 cup vegetable oil

2. Use A Lip Balm With Sunscreen

Lip wrinkles are often more noticeable when skin is dry.

A lip balm with sunscreen will help to protect the lips from the sun’s harmful UV rays and keep them hydrated. It’s important to use a lip balm that contains broad-spectrum SPF, which protects against both UVA and UVB rays. It is ideal to aim for a minimum of SPF 30, though SPF 50+ is best.

Some of our favourites lip balms with sunscreen are: Nivea Ultra Care and Protect SPF 30, Bondi Sands SPF 50+ Lip Balm and Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF 50+

3. Take Collagen Supplements

Collagen is ideal for keeping the skin looking youthful.

Our bodies naturally produce collagen, but production becomes depleted as we age. This can lead to lip wrinkles, among other signs of ageing.

Collagen supplements help to boost the body’s collagen levels and keep skin looking youthful.  Some great collagen supplements include: Hydrolysed Collagen, Marine Collagen and Biocell Collagen. Collagen supplements can be mixed with water, added to your favourite smoothies or meals.

4. Stop Smoking

Smoking is one of the worst things you can do for your skin.

As smoking requires repetitive lip movement and lip pursing, it can cause lip wrinkles. Smoking also contributes to premature ageing and increases the risk of skin cancer. Smoking decreases the blood supply to the skin, which deprives it of oxygen and nutrients needed for healthy skin. The longer you smoke, the more wrinkles you are likely to develop. If you are a long time smoker, it’s okay – it’s not too late to quit.

If you want to get rid of lip wrinkles, consider quitting smoking.

5. Get Lip Injections

If you are looking for a more permanent solution to lip wrinkles, lip injections may be the answer.

Lip injections are a fast and easy way to reduce lip wrinkles. It involves the injection of dermal fillers into the lips to fill in lip wrinkles and give them a plumper, more youthful appearance. There is minimal risk and downtime required, making it an ideal treatment.

There are a variety of different lip injections available, so it is important to speak to a qualified doctor about which would be best for you. Some common lip injection fillers include: collagen, hyaluronic acid and fat cells.

We hope you have found these five tips helpful in getting rid of lip wrinkles! As always, if you have any questions or need advice, please speak to a qualified professional.

DIY Lip Balm – A Beautiful Mess

DIY Lip Balm- click through for the full tutorial! Hi there! We’re Britta & Carli from Twinspiration, and we’re thrilled to joining the ABM team, as we’ve been longtime fans. Every month we’ll be bringing you small & useful DIY projects that you can conquer in one day! We’ve been blogging for over three years now and what was once just a hobby has turned into our greatest passion. We hope you enjoy our projects here on A Beautiful Mess!

Let us just say that this is one of our favorite projects for a couple of reasons—it’s super easy and useful. What more could you ask for in a DIY project?! You’ll see that most of our DIYs fall into both of those categories. We love a good, easy project. Once in awhile we enjoy challenging projects that push our DIY skills, but easy is our jam.

We’ve made these balms a few times now, and we love how easy it is to switch them up. For summer months, we love mixing in grapefruit essential oil, but this time around, we went with peppermint since it just felt right for wintertime.

DIY Lip Balm- click through for the full tutorial!Supplies (for two lip balms):
–gold tins
-1 tablespoon coconut oil
-1 tablespoon beeswax pellets
-1 teaspoon almond oil
-essential oils (we used peppermint)
–E600 glue

Once you have everything together, here’s how you make the lip balm:

Step One: In a small dish mix together the coconut oil, beeswax pellets, and almond oil.

Step Two: Microwave for 1 minute, stir, and then microwave for one more minute. We microwaved the ingredients on 100% heat. Caution—dish will be hot!

DIY Lip Balm- click through for the full tutorial! Step Three: Now remove dish from microwave and immediately add 20-30 drops of your essential oil. This may seem like a lot, but you need it to be strong enough to cut through the smell of the coconut oil.

DIY Lip Balm- click through for the full tutorial! Step Four: Next, pour the mixture into your gold tin. Stop pouring when you reach the top of the tin. No worries if you pour too much, it’s pretty simple to clean up! Allow to cool for 15 minutes, until solid. We like to let ours cool for at least an hour to be on the safe side, but they do solidify fast. Tip—work over wax paper for easy clean up!

DIY Lip Balm- click through for the full tutorial! Step Five: Last but not least, glue your beads to the gold tin lid using your E6000 glue. We like to use beads with different textures to make it more interesting. Any pattern will do.

How to wear lip gloss

Now that we are heading into the Fall season it’s time to change up our makeup routine. As the months get colder, we need to bump up the hydration for our skin but also for our lips. Why a new lip gloss? It is all about innovation. Ingredient technology is always improving, and we want to provide you with not only clean products, but products that perform. Therefore, we are introducing the New HydroPure Gloss. Packed with skin-loving, lip-plumping, and hydrating ingredients, this gloss features a beautiful pop of color that’s never sticky or tacky, always lightweight and ultra-hydrating.

How to Moisturize Lips

Lips do not contain sweat or oil glands so that means you need to hydrate them, especially in colder months.   You can do that with many different lip products — lipsticks, lip stains, lip balms, and lip gloss; every product has its place in your makeup routine. Your lips are one of the most delicate parts of the face, so we need to keep them moisturized, exfoliated, and hydrated.

What’s inside HydroPure hydrating lip gloss?

As we age, our lips become dry, lose volume, and sometimes start to thin and show fine lines. The new HydroPure Lip Gloss contains Hyaluronic Acid, a powerful humectant that attracts and locks in moisture. Hyaluronic Acid expands and holds 1000 times its weight in water and even helps to reduce dryness and improves the overall health of the lips.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1is a natural collagen stimulator and fatty-acid-linked peptide that helps improve lip volume, creating the appearance of fuller-looking lips.  This helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, helping lips appear more youthful

Lactic Acid is also used to help moisturize and hydrate lips.Lactic Acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that gently sloughs dead skin off lips for a smoother, softer smile. It helps with cell renewal and pulls in moisture to keep the lips soft and hydrated.

Also included is a blend of Jojoba Seed Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Mango Seed Butter, Avocado Oil and Vegetable Oil to condition and protect lips, leaving them soft, smooth, and with a subtle glossy sheen. Having a blend of oils will help the lips appear full and healthy.

The best part about having a lip gloss is you can pair it with your favorite lip stick or lip balm.  Lip glosses are great for color correction too. If you have a lip stick that is a bit too dark you can tone it down with a lighter shade gloss like Snow Berry or Tourmaline (a fan favorite from many many years ago). Maybe your favorite lip stick needs a pop more color. You can layer Mocha Latte or Berry Red and create a brighter bolder lip.

One of my favorite products to pair a lip gloss with is a lip pencil. It’s a quick and easy way to add dimension to your lips.  Color in your entire lip with your lip pencil and pop a gloss right on top and you have long wear lip duo.

I’ve created a chart with my favorite pencil and glosses below:

Fun Fact!!!Lip gloss was invented in 1930 by Max Factor.  He struggled with the way matte lipsticks looked on camera.  By adding a little shine to the center of the bottom lip the lips would stand out on camera and the actresses would look sexy and sultry.

Natural Lip Balm

Sometimes buying cosmetics is fun and trying your hand at some homemade DIY cosmetics can be super fun as well. Natural and organic tinted lip balms can often be expensive or maybe you can’t find any organic options at your local beauty or drug store. That is when a simple DIY tinted lip balm comes in handy!

Plus, making your own makeup ensures you are only using the very best ingredients, you can control what you put in it, and you can make the exact color you are looking to wear.

This rose-colored DIR tinted lip balm is easy to make, uses easy to find natural ingredients, and provides the perfect amount of color to your lips. It is also super moisturizing and has a great silky consistency.

If you are looking for richer color and don’t want to hunker down and DIY a tinted lip balm, check out our post on the best natural and organic lipsticks.

Key Points:

  • Making you own makeup, like tinted lip balm can save you money and you can control exactly what is in the final product.
  • You can create and customize your own color.
  • It uses simple, natural, and organic ingredients and is a freshly handmade product.
  • This is a smooth and glossy balm that it meant to provide a relatively sheer color to the lips.
  • Shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil will provide your lips with heaps of moisture, especially during the cold winter months.
  • Optional essential oils will provide more healing benefits and a wonderful scent.
  • Color comes from natural mica pigmentation.

5 Steps:

  1. Gather you ingredients. You will need the following: organic virgin coconut oil, beeswax, unrefined shea butter, rose mica powder, and essential oil of choice – this is also an ingredient you can easily omit.
  2. Melt the coconut oil, beeswax, and the shea butter in a small glass jar or bowl in a pot of slightly simmering water. You don’t want boiling water. Stir gently with spoon until fully melted.
  3. When you mixture has completely melted, stir in your essential oils and mica colored powder.
  4. Transfer your mixture into a container of choice. You can either use a brand new container or reuse an old cleaned out lip balm tube or container.
  5. Once in the container, let the lip balm mixture cool and solidify. You can apply with your finger all throughout the day!
