Brands

Hey friends, Amanda here, back again to share more of my clean beauty favorites. This time, I want to focus on specific beauty products, so today I am sharing seven clean beauty products from BIPOC-owned brands that you need in your makeup bag right now.

Whether you are back at work, or school, or just want to look a little more glam at your next Zoom meeting, these products will help you look and feel your best.

1. Range Beauty True Intentions Hydrating Foundation My go-to foundation right now is the True Intentions Hydrating Foundation by Range Beauty. The line was created by former fashion industry insider Alicia Scott. While on photoshoot sets and in the aisles of her local drug store, she noticed the lack of foundation shade options for people of color. In addition, she noticed that a lot of the brands on the market contained ingredients that inflamed her sensitive skin. So she decided to create a solution: a collection of complexion products with skin-loving ingredients for the forgotten shades.

I am a fan of the Range Beauty foundation because it’s fragrance-free, weightless, and provides sheer to medium coverage that blurs imperfections but leaves skin still feeling and looking like skin. The foundation feels hydrating when first applied then dries down to a lovely satin finish that I don’t need to powder.

The foundation is made with natural ingredients like chamomile, calendula, and cornflower to help soothe sensitive skin. It also includes kaolin clay which keeps oily skin in check.

This foundation comes in 21 shades from fair to deep and in various undertones like red, yellow, olive, cool, and neutral. They also offer a great sample program (I love a sample program!) so you can test out colors before committing to the full size.

2. Plain Jane Beauty Creme Concealer Plain Jane Beauty makes a full range of clean color cosmetics including foundations, powders, lipsticks, and blushes. You name it, they make it. This inclusive and cruelty-free brand was created by Mrs. Lake Louise who also happens to be the creator of Lotus Moon (a favorite from my last roundup!). Honestly, is there nothing this woman can’t do?

I’ve tried a handful of the products in her beauty line that I really enjoy, but the one I keep reaching for is the Creme Color Concealer. This concealer has a slightly thick, yet creamy consistency that dries down to a satin finish and stays put all day. It’s ideal for covering up blemishes or any hard-to-cover imperfections. I use the shade teak as a bronzer as it has a lovely warm earth tone that mimics sun-kissed skin, so even though I am not spending a lot of time outside, I can still look like I do on my Zoom calls.

3. Kobee’s Eco Balm Everyone needs a good lip balm in their makeup bag and this one by Kobee’s is my jam. This organic balm was created by college student Kobe Harris to help people live more sustainable lives and fight climate change. The company’s ethos is that we can all take small steps to help change the world for good. He believes one way we can do this is by switching over to using plastic-free lip products that are made in bio-degradable and compostable packaging.

Kobee’s Eco Balm is made with 100% natural ingredients like beeswax, sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, mango butter, and essential oils. There are five flavors in the collection: Peppermint, Grapefruit Lemon Orange, CBD, Natural Beeswax, and my personal favorite, Coconut Vanilla. These balms are creamy, ultra hydrating, and leave your lips feeling ultra smooth. They can also be used anywhere you need some extra TLC like cuticles, under the eyes, or on elbows.

His balms are available in the zero-waste tubes or in recycled aluminum tins. When you buy one of Kobee’s Eco Balms, a percentage of every sale goes towards The Alliance for the Great Lakes, One Tree Planted, and Our Children’s Earth Foundationso you’re truly helping to save the planet, one lip balm at a time.

4. Habit Cosmetics Bright Lights Organic Creme Highlighter Some of you may already be familiar with Habit Cosmetics. (I know Elsie has been a fan of their nail polish for years.) But did you know they also make creme colors and highlighters that can be used on the eyes, cheeks, and lips? Created by Aja Frierson last year to specifically cater to the skin tones of women of color, these multi-use pots of loveliness are super pigmented and made with skin-loving ingredients like sunflower, sesame, and seabuckthorn oil.

I am a huge fan of the Bright Lights Organic Creme Highlighter in the color Starchild which is a warm, shimmering lavender color that looks great applied to cheekbones or on the eyes (where I like to rock it!). I set the lid color with a little bit of translucent powder so it doesn’t crease. This glistening shade can be sheered out for a subtle effect or layered for a more bold look. There are eight different colors in the collection ranging from sparkly champagne to deep sienna.

5. Cheekbone Beauty Sustain Lipstick Cheekbone Beauty was founded by Jennifer Harper as a way to empower indigenous youth and to help bridge the education funding gap facing many first nation children and young adults. They make an array of makeup products like glosses, liquid lipsticks, contour palettes, and brow gels.

My go-to product in their line is the Sustain Lipstick in the color Keyah. It’s a versatile rosy nude shade that can be blended with fingers for a lovely my-natural-lips-but-better color, or layered for a more opaque look. The long-lasting matte formula never dries out lips and wears off nicely. Their lipsticks are made with sustainable ingredients and are free of any fragrance or essential oils. The packaging is also zero-waste so you can recycle the lipstick tube and compost the cardboard components.

Fun fact: Many of the lip products in this collection are inspired by trailblazing indigenous women or named using a word from one of 7,000 indigenous languages, which I think is a lovely way to honor the culture and introduce others to its beauty. The word Keyah, for example, means land or earth in the Dine Bizaad and Navajo language.

6. Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly For my folks who prefer lip glosses, check out the ShineOn Lip Jelly from Tower 28. These glosses are out-of-this-world shiny and moisturizing without any stickiness whatsoever. In fact, the formula feels more like a lip treatment than a gloss thanks to the formula’s hydrating blend of botanical oils. One swipe leaves lips feeling extra plump and hydrated. These glosses come in six sheer high-shine shades. I use the color XOXO which looks pretty bold in the tube but when applied, looks like a translucent cherry pink.

Tower 28 was founded by Amy Lui, a former beauty executive turned beauty entrepreneur who suffered from eczema. She made this line as a way to create a fun, affordable, and inclusive line of clean beauty products that are gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. Not only does she make lip glosses but there are also bronzers, tinted multi-use balms, and a restorative facial spray in her line that is on my must-try-next list.

7. Mischo Beauty Nail Lacquers – Have you ever seen a prettier bottle of nail polish? Mischo Beauty makes one of the most elegant, display-worthy luxury nail polishes that I have ever seen. That gold cap. Ahh, It gets me every time!

The idea to create this brand was first sparked while chemist and beauty expert Kitiya Mischo King was pregnant with her first son. While on a mission to find high-performance, non-toxic nail polish during her pregnancy, she discovered a gap in the market and soon began her journey to create the perfect cruelty-free, vegan, and 10-free nail polish. (This means they avoid using the 10 most common chemicals found in standard nail products.)

There are over 32 shades of bold, fashion-forward colors in the collection. I personally love the color Bebe, which is a creamy pink blush color that goes on opaque and glossy, making a topcoat conveniently optional.

These of just a few of my favorite BIPOC beauty brands. A few great retailers that carry an array of products made specifically by people of color are Blk + Green, Credo Collection, and ShopLatinx. Instagram is another way I like to find new brands. I recommend looking up hashtags that resonate with you or following beauty influencers who share your same beauty values.

It’s no secret that BIPOC beauty brands are underrepresented in both mainstream media and in major retailers. We can change this and make the industry a more equitable place, one beauty product at a time. If you have the means, I highly recommend purchasing any of the products above to actively support BIPOC brands! And don’t forget to leave your positive reviews too. Or, if you’re saving, remember that even telling a friend or resharing posts on IG costs you nothing but can make a huge difference for the livelihood of these brands.

Thanks for reading, friends. I hope you discovered new goodies to add to your future shopping list. Feel free to leave your favorites below too. I’d love to know what’s in your makeup bag and here are some amazing BIPOC soap makers you can support as well!

When the temperatures drop, my skin tends to get super dry and a little more sensitive than usual, so I like to amp up my beauty routine with some ultra-hydrating skincare products. Here are six products made by women of color-owned brands that I’ve been reaching for nonstop, in case you need a little extra boost in your routine, too.

First up is the Matcha Face Moisturizer created by Priscilla Tsai, founder of the brand Cocokind. This moisturizer is made with a combination of antioxidant-rich, organic matcha powder and green tea extract that’s specifically formulated for dry or mature skin. It’s a great pick-me-up when you need an extra dose of hydration. This unique formula blends in nicely and leaves skin feeling soft yet matte. Because of its green color, it also helps to balance the appearance of any redness or blotchiness. You can use this moisturizer on its own, or for an extra boost of hydration, I recommend layering it with a face oil.

Speaking of oil, my go-to has been Ode to Self De Palma Hydrating + Clarifying Oil made by Nashville’s very own Kimberlee Alexandria. I have been using this nonstop since I first bought it. It’s very nourishing and smells beautiful. It’s made with a blend of oils like jojoba, squalane, black currant, evening primrose, and palmarosa that absorb quickly, leaving skin super hydrated and soft. Ingredients like sea buckthorn and rosehip work together to even out skin tone. All Ode to Self products are made to help simplify your beauty routine while soothing dry skin and combating hyperpigmentation. They’re also intentionally formulated with the needs of Black women in mind.

In the winter time, I also like to use an oil on my body, so I’ve incorporated the Pink Moon Midnight Melody Body and Hair Oil by Lin Chen into my routine. This oil is made with sunflower seed, apricot kernel, and meadowfoam and scented with organic essential oils like tuberose and ylang-ylang. It’ll leave you smelling like a bouquet of flowers. I love a versatile multi-use product, and this oil can also be used as a bath oil or subtle perfume. Make sure to check out Pink Moon’s online store because not only does Chen make incredible beauty products, she also carries an entire collection of women-owned brands on a mission to change the beauty and wellness industry.

Another multi-use product that I’ve been loving lately is the Honest Beauty Magic Balm. It’s unscented and made with a hydrating blend of olive, argan, and coconut oils as well as shea butter, so it’s very nourishing yet never greasy. You can use this stuff pretty much anywhere. I like to use it to soften dry lips and hydrate my cuticles, but you can use it to moisturize rough elbows or even apply it as a glossy highlight on cheeks or brow bones.

When I want to hydrate my lips and add a touch of color, I reach for the Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish Sheer Colour Balm in the shade Blow Up, which is a pretty, everyday peachy nude color that would look great on a variety of skin tones. This lip product glides on like a balm yet looks like a gloss. It’s very hydrating without being sticky. Pat McGrath’s line is technically not a clean beauty brand, however, most of the ingredients in this balm rate a three or under according to the EWG, so I’m comfortable using it. Plus, the packaging brings me so much joy. How cute is that gold lip detailing? I have the mini size but I know I’ll be upgrading to the full size once I finish this one.

Last but not least, another go-to is the Lotus Moon Organic Honey Masque. Honey is a powerful natural humectant, according to the brand, meaning that it attracts and maintains moisture. It’s a great ingredient to nourish sensitive, irritated, or dry skin. This mask is gel-like so it never fully dries down. I leave it on for 20-30 minutes and when I wash it off, my skin feels soft, hydrated, and ready for the day.

Trying to choose low-waste brands? Check out my suggestions for my favorite 7 low-waste beauty brands!

What products have you been loving lately, friends? Feel free to share them in the comments below. I know I’ve added a few to my must-try list thanks to Elsie’s last skincare post. xo, Amanda

10 Nontoxic Makeup Brands To Try!

by

One thing I’ve been trying to make a practice of more and more in my life is intentional shopping. Putting quality over quantity in my purchasing as well as thoughtfulness has saved me so much time and waste not only in my wardrobe but in the beauty products I purchase. While I’m looking for quality in the product itself, I’m also considering what’s actually IN the product! So many beauty goods are riddled with toxic ingredients and the less of those dirty products I can put on my skin the better. I know it can be so tricky finding nontoxic products and brands that are comparable to your favorites, but girl, I’ve got you covered! 🙂

Today I’m sharing 10 of my favorite nontoxic beauty brands that are worth trying!

1.100% PURE — I will never use another brow product again! Their brow pomade has replaced all of my high-end brow products, and I’m in love. They also carry a great range of body, hair and baby products too!

2. CRUNCHI — They carry one of my favorite foundation options for natural beauty. It goes on like a dream and looks so beautiful on the skin. You can also grab a sampling of their foundation colors so you know which one to pick before ordering! I was incredibly impressed by the application and wear! I recommend applying with a beauty blender! I also love their gloss, it smells divine and adds such a beautiful shine!

3. TATA HARPER — Such iconic green packaging! They are typically known for their skincare line, but I have loved trying out their cosmetics too! My favorite is probably their lip and cheek tint. I’m a sucker for multipurpose products, and I love the way these blend and smell!

4. ALIMA PURE — Another great option for those of you looking for a great, clean foundation. They have a lot of choices including powders and creams and a good range of coverage options too. I also really like their shimmer mineral shadows. SO pretty!

5. LILY LOLO — Hands down my favorite nontoxic mascara option! I was first introduced to Lily Lolo through a green beauty subscription service, and I knew after the first time I used the mascara that I would be needing more. Love how this makes my lashes look and love that it’s free of dirty ingredients! They also have a beautiful selection of lip products and some gorgeous eyeshadows too!

6. ERIN’S FACES — For my girls who love shimmer and glow, I’m crazy about their Magic Dust and Fairy Dust. It is BEAUTIFUL and so gorgeous for highlighting, using on the eyes, inner corners and even highlighting your shoulders. I’m curious to try their mineral lip glosses too! Also, their tinted balm is so good!

7. RMS BEAUTY— Love their simple, everyday luminizer! Their vibe is very minimal and natural and I love it, especially for everyday wear.

8. VAPOUR — Love their Lip Nectar and the gorgeous color selection!

9. ILIA — I’m a huge fan of lipstick, so when I come across great, natural lipstick options, I’m down! Love their lipstick line so much, and I’m kinda dying to try some of their multi-sticks!

10. ZUZU LUXE — I really haven’t tried much of their line, but their felt tip liquid liner is GOOD. I’m a huge eye liner fan, and I love a good wing… I was so thrilled to find this option, and it looks so amazing on and wears really beautifully!

Just as a bonus, I put together a simple look wearing some of these products! Check out the details of what I’m wearing below…

Wearing: Foundation – Crunchi in Fair, Brows – 100% Pure in Medium Brown, Shadow & Highlight – Erin’s Faces in Magic Dust, Liner – Zuzu Luxe in felt tip liquid liner, Mascara – Lily Lolo in Black, Blush – Tata Harper in Very Naughty, Lips – Au Naturale in Crushed Bloom, honorable mention! Can’t stop wearing this color!

Please feel free to share some of your favorite nontoxic beauty brands in the comments below. I would LOVE to know what you’re loving! xox Sav.

Hi, ABM friends! My name is Amanda. I am so thrilled to be a new contributor to the site. I’ve been reading and following the ladies at A Beautiful Mess for years now, so it’s such a treat to contribute a post. A little bit about me: I am a photographer based in Los Angeles and the creator of the blog Green Beauty Love, which highlights women of color in the clean beauty and wellness community. I created this site because, as a Latina, I didn’t feel like I saw myself represented in the beauty community I loved so much. So, I made a space that was reflective of what I wished to see: more inclusivity and diversity. In that spirit, today I am sharing my top five favorite skincare brands made by women of color. You may not have heard of these stellar brands yet, but I know you will love them!

Purpl & Prosper – Purpl & Prosper is a Pasadena-based company and one of the first brands I discovered when I moved to Southern California. The brand was created by esthetician Taianne Eiland after years of struggling with cystic acne. During this process, she discovered the power of keeping skincare ingredients simple and natural, which completely transformed her skin.

Purpl & Prosper offers a complete line of skin and bath products ranging from deodorant sprays to face serums and cleaners. My personal favorite is her Goat Milk Soap. She makes two varieties: one that is super hydrating and a second version that is more clarifying. The Goat Milk and Activated Charcoal soap is a multi-use product that can be used on both the face and body. The charcoal helps gently detox skin while the goat’s milk and coconut oil help to retain the skin’s moisture. Pro tip: This soap also makes a great weekly underarm cleansing wash.

Lotus Moon – Lotus Moon was created by scholar and skin care expert Lake Louise 18 years ago, before green beauty was even a genre in the industry. So, she was truly one of the early pioneers of this movement. She makes the best plant-based skin care for consumers as well as a complete line of professional-grade skincare for estheticians and spas (which is where I was initially introduced to the line).

I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve tried from Lotus Moon, but my absolute favorite product has to be the Lemon Poppy Seed Foaming Powder Cleanser. This super gentle exfoliating powder is made with 100% natural and organic ingredients like stoneground corn, lemon powder, jojoba, and poppy seeds. To use it, you simply mix with water and scrub.

Personally, I like to sprinkle a little in my gel cleansers a few times a week to super charge the formula. I have oily textured skin, so I use this every other day and my skin feels so smooth and perfectly prepped after every use. I also love that a little goes a long way! My last bottle lasted me almost a full year, so it’s a great value. If you’re looking for a new physical exfoliator to add to your skincare regime, I can’t recommend this one enough.

Half Hippy– This eco-conscious lifestyle and beauty brand was created by besties Upahar Rana and Marian Miranda in New York City. This unisex brand is all about celebrating inclusion and sustainable plant-powered beauty. Their products are made with all natural and organic ingredients. They also give back by donating products to health care workers and proceeds to BLM and the LGBTQI community.

Another thing I love about Half Hippy is that they have the best names for their products, like Pit Police (their deodorant), The Terminator (a muscle rub) and my personal favorite, Gem N’Juice. This hydrating mist is made with Bulgarian rose hydrosol, aloe and prickly pear. Each bottle also contains a rose quartz to promote heart chakra energy. I use this mist on my face after cleansing and whenever I need a little refreshing midday pick me up.

Quetzalli Skincare– Esthetician Adriana Ugalde wanted to create a line of non-toxic skincare and cosmetics that merged her passion for self-care while celebrating her indigenous Mexican roots. The word Quetzalli is a Nahuatl word meaning something beautiful or precious. Ingredients like chia, cactus, amaranth, agave, and arnica are just some of the ancient ingredients found in her products that were once used by the Aztec and Mayan empires.

My go-to product in the line is the Jamaica Rose Night Serum. It smells so yummy and reminds me of my favorite summer beverage—hibiscus iced tea! Jamaica (or hibiscus) is packed with antioxidants which help fight skin damaging free radicals. It’s also a natural source of AHA which helps gently exfoliate the skin. Because of this, some people call Jamaica the ultimate anti-aging plant, or even consider it a natural alternative to Botox. I love how moisturized my skin feels when I use it and would recommend it to anyone looking to add a hydrating serum to their skin care routine.

EleVen– My go to sunscreen this summer has been Unrivaled Sun Serum SPF 35 by Venus Williams. Yes, as in the legendary tennis player, Venus Williams. Venus created this inclusive and environmentally-friendly mineral sunscreen for all skin types and tones.

I really like the serum’s unique liquid to satin finish formula because it’s completely weightless and fully absorbs into the skin, leaving no white cast. It’s also hydrating so I skip the moisturizer and apply it right after my toner. I often wear it alone, but it also layers really nicely under foundation. This SPF serum is, dare I say, a grand slam! I would expect nothing less from Miss Venus.

These are just a few of my favorite brands that I love that are made by women of color. And there are so many more out there. In the coming months, I hope to share even more incredible brands with you. In the meantime, if you feel called to diversify your own skincare regimens and makeup bags, I encourage you to do your own research and actively seek out BIPOC-owned brands that align with your values.

In the past few years, there’s definitely a growing awareness and demand for clean beauty, so it’s easier to find at major retailers. I’m also encouraged that these same retailers are now committing to diversifying their shelves through initiatives like the 15% Pledge. But, remember, we don’t have to wait for these markets to catch up. We can take matters into our own hands as consumers and actively support diversity in beauty by supporting BIPOC-owned brands directly. I encourage you to check out these brands, discover more on your own, and then tell your friends! In fact, start right here. Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite beauty brands made by women of color to share with the ABM community. -Amanda

NaturalLipstickI get a little… OK, maybe a lot excited talking about lipstick. 😉 I love discovering new-to-me brands and finding lines I can really get behind. The first 5 Natural Lipstick Brands You’ll Love post was SO fun to curate, and since there are more and more new and exciting natural brands of lipstick available, I had to share 5 more that you need to check out if you’re shopping for nontoxic, organic lipstick options. You won’t be sorry. All of these have a wow factor and are so comfortable to wear!

Fall Natural LipstickJane Iredale: Jane Iredale has several lip options, but I really enjoy the Lip Plumper line. It’s infused with ginger root extract, which is supposed to increase circulation and make your lips appear fuller. While I didn’t notice a difference in the fullness of my lips, I did really enjoy the slight tingle and cooling feeling it left throughout the wear. The colors are so beautiful with just a touch of shimmer and are very easy to apply. I found that this color especially was an easy “no-mirror needed” lipstick. If you enjoy the plumping/tingling type of lip products, then I think you’ll really love this pick! Wearing NYC.

Fall Natural Lipstick Tata Harper: This is such a beautiful product. The green and gold packaging makes me want to display it on my vanity along with my other visually pleasing favorites. 🙂 I’ve always been a huge fan of multipurpose beauty products, and I especially love that this can be worn on the lips and cheeks. Again, very easy to apply and super comfortable to wear. The scent actually reminds me a little bit of a strawberry smoothie, and I kinda love it. I love that the color I picked had a neutral vibe with a pinch of burnt orange, very appropriate for the transition of the seasons! Wearing Very Popular.

Fall Natural Lipstick Beauty Counter: If you’re a lover of sleek gold packaging, then this is your lipstick pick! These lipsticks have such a buttery, soft application. They are a little on the sheer side, but you can definitely build up the color. They have a natural vanilla scent that is so warm and yummy too. I’m kinda obsessed with this plumy/brown color! Wearing Raisin.

Fall Natural Lipstick Vapour: Super chic, sleek packaging and a very silky application. I love that the color is more full-coverage, and they have a great selection of colors to choose from! The scent is slightly pomegranate. Definitely one of my favorites for a night out. Wearing Bold.

Fall Natural Lipstick Kosas: This packaging really speaks to my minimalistic loving heart. I’ll always be a fan of black and white. This line is definitely the most full-coverage of the bunch and really performs more like a typical lipstick, less buttery, which gives you a little more control and precision if you are wanting to spend a little more time on your application. They have 8 colors in their line, all of them totally covetable and beautiful. I love wearing a poppy red/orange color at the beginning of fall. Wearing Thrillest.

Natural Lipstick All five of these picks are really high quality, perform beautifully and feel so comfortable to wear. Each are made with nontoxic ingredients that will leave your skin and lips super thankful! *celebration hands emoji*

I so hope you enjoyed these picks. Feel free to share some of your favorite natural and nontoxic picks too! Lots of love, Sav.

5 Natural Lipstick Brands You’ll Love

by

5 Natural Lipstick Brands You Will LoveIt’s no secret that I’m slightly obsessed with all things beauty related. I find an odd sense of joy opening a fresh tube of lipstick, using a new makeup brush or having an insanely good makeup day. Being a mom of two little ones under two, those good makeup days don’t come as often as they used to, but when they do, I’m sure to capture the proof with a few good selfies. 😉

5 Natural Lipstick Brands You Will Love Naturally, I couldn’t help but get totally geeked out about sharing some really incredible natural lipstick brands with you. I can be a little bit of a lipstick snob, so I’m always looking for a lipstick to meet a few requirements…

The Formula: It has to be smooth, buttery and feel great on my lips all day. No making my lips feel dry or sliding all over my face. Bonus if it’s extra conditioning and anti-aging!

Beautiful Packaging: I appreciate and definitely value good packaging. While it’s not the most important aspect of a product, I really want my investment to also be display worthy!

Great Color Range: I’m a collector, so when I find a great brand, I love knowing that it has a good color range so I can pick up a few more. 😉

And… most importantly, the ingredients! While not all of the lipsticks I own are natural and organic, the idea that we ingest so much of the lipstick we wear has me wanting to really take a closer look at what I’m putting on my lips. No thank you to icky and potentially harmful ingredients!

So, if you’re looking for natural and organic lipstick brands that meet all of the above requirements and are really very incredible, keep reading…

Natural Lipstick You'll Love Axiology: Stunning gold packaging, moisturizing, sustainable, vegan and organic. I’m absolutely in love with their presentation, and they have a great color range from neutrals to daring blues and purples. Their lipsticks also have a lovely citrus scent. Wearing Worth.

Bite Beauty: Bite is a brand you can pick up at your local Sephora, and I love that they carry this brand as a natural option. Their lipsticks smell beautiful (like oranges!) and are food grade, so you really could eat them! Although I wouldn’t recommend it. 😉 They offer a huge line of colors great for any skin tone and personality. Wearing Sweet Cream.

Natural Lipstick You'll Love ILIA: Packaged in super chic recycled aluminum cases and filled with organic ingredients. Beautiful, classic color range. I especially love their tinted lip conditioners! Wearing Pink Moon.

Great makeup does more than just make you look beautiful – it’s also good for your body and the planet. In recent years, trendsetting natural and organic makeup brands have been changing the industry with consciously made products. With these brands, you can feel comfortable knowing that you’re using safe, ethically sourced ingredients every time.

Many of the ingredients in conventional beauty products can irritate the skin or even cause long-term health issues. One of the most crucial ingredient groups to avoid are parabens, which were traditionally used as preservatives to extend the shelf life of beauty products. Parabens can mimic the effects of estrogen in the body, causing breast cancer as well as hormonal issues. Other toxic ingredients to avoid include sulfates, phthalates, aluminum, and synthetic fragrances, all of which can cause irritation and have been linked to long-term health problems.

There are so many excellent natural and organic makeup brands on the market today. Many of them offer niche products that mainstream beauty companies don’t offer. Here are 15 of the top natural and organic makeup brands to add to your beauty collection today.

Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara
100 Percent Pure Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara

100 Percent Pure offers natural, ethically sourced products without toxic ingredients. All products are cruelty-free and most are vegan.

100 Percent Pure is a California-based company that focuses on offering products that are completely free of toxins. Many mainstream beauty products contain irritants that can have harmful long-term effects on the skin and body. They use natural fruit pigments in their makeup instead of dyes and other harsh colorants that can cause allergic reactions.

The 100 Percent Pure brand is also committed to fighting for effective social change. They do not use animal testing of any kind, and their ingredient sourcing process is set up to avoid sourcing ingredients from animals. Most of their products are currently vegan, and they are working towards becoming an all-vegan brand in the near future.

The brand partners with animal rescue and welfare organizations to help provide food to shelter dogs. They also are committed to offering environmental sustainability and work with Trees For The Future, an organization that promotes environmental welfare.

100 Percent Pure’s makeup line is known for its rich, nourishing formulas. Their makeup is very lightweight and is perfect for an everyday natural look. One of their most popular products is their Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara, which contains green tea and berry extracts. This natural mascara nourishes the lashes, making them look long and defined, and also has a delicious berry scent as a result of the natural ingredients. While it isn’t waterproof, it is very durable and is designed to stay on all day.

Multi-Task Loose Powder
Rejuva Minerals Multi-Task Loose Powder

Rejuva Minerals offers non-toxic, organic mineral makeup that is never tested on animals.

Founder Brenda Hyre created Rejuva Minerals after years of struggling to find makeup that didn’t irritate her sensitive skin. Instead of using harsh, irritating ingredients, Rejuva Minerals creates makeup products that are entirely mineral-based. The mineral formula is very gentle on the skin, and it doesn’t contain any talc or parabens. They also have several products that are specified mica and titanium dioxide-free, for those who have allergies to these specific ingredients. Their products are not tested on animals and come in eco-friendly packaging.

One of Rejuva Minerals’ most popular products is their Multi-Task Loose Powder, which we reviewed here. This colorless powder is a lightweight, easy way to set your makeup. It is made with organic tapioca as well as antioxidants derived from natural oils. This powder prevents shine and also prevents your makeup from sliding around on your face throughout the day.

Additionally, Rejuva Minerals has a full selection of pressed natural eyeshadows in natural shades, which are excellent for an everyday work look.

Narcissist Foundation Stick
W3ll People Narcissist Foundation Stick

W3ll People offers non-toxic and organic products that are gluten-free. They are also sustainably made and packaged, and they offer several vegan options.

The W3ll People brand takes a unique approach to makeup – their makeup products are designed to double as nourishing skincare products. Their products are completely clean and completely plant-based, making them great for your skin as well as for the environment.

The brand was founded by a makeup artist, a dermatologist, and an entrepreneur, and they were able to combine their expertise to develop a makeup brand that is truly revolutionary. W3ll People also takes a minimalist approach to makeup, and many of their products are multipurpose and can be used on the entire face.

One of their most popular multi-use products is their Nudist Cream Stick, which comes in three versatile colors and can be used on the lips, cheeks, and eyes. They also make the Narcissist Foundation Stick, a natural foundation which is available in nine different shades. Both of these stick formulas are very nourishing and are an excellent choice for those with dry skin. The brand has a luxury feel, and all of the packagings are very elegantly designed. Although W3ll People is very eco-friendly, they also have a sleek, modern look that will stand out in your makeup collection.

As a result, most of Juice Beauty’s makeup products have skincare benefits as well.

Juice Beauty is known for their Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation. It is very lightweight and easy to blend and comes in 13 different shades. This foundation contains a serum that is full of healing antioxidants as well as coconut alkanes, which are very soothing and moisturizing.
